Character- Snake

Obviously for the snake girl her clothing was going to be based around blue tones. However originally I just wanted her to have blue accenting around the edges so that it wouldn't be over powering. However when looking at this from further out and from a birds eye view she wasn't recognisable enough.

So I then went to what is shown below- the whole dress being blue and that way she is obviously the blue character. However this didn't seem tribal enough.

Because of that I then decided to try and find a compromise with a pattern. I found this scale like pattern so that it would relate to a snake in a way and just changed the colouring to match the right tones.

You can see the patterning slightly before when I was playing with the opacities but I have since darkened it which is seen in the last photos.

Next I looked into her headdress and how to make it look like snake skin but to not be over the top.
The two textures above show the first texture I tried and then one I ended with. The first ended up being too over the top and became cluttered from a birds eye. This can be seen in the two images below.

So I then changed to the more simplistic but more literal skin. I bumped this up in mud box so it has some dimension to it and it works a lot more cohesively.
